COMPETITIONS
THE CAPTAINS PRIZE
One of the 2 oldest trophies held by the Society.This was presented to the Society by its first Captain Fred Hewitt.
It is usually contested as a 27 hole Stableford competition,at a venue chosen by the years Captain.
The Captains Prize is always the final fixture of the season & is followed by the presentation of all trophies won during the season.
THE F.A. HEWITT CUP
This competition is usually contested as an Individual Medal.
THE SPORTS & WELFARE SHIELD
This is usually contested as a Fourball & Greensomes competition.
THE G.E.BLYTH CONSISTENCY PRIZE
This was presented to the Society by a former Chairman in 1980.
Points are awarded in respect to a players finishing position at all Society matches.
The player with the most points at the end of the season is declared the winner.
THE SID WILLOUGHBY CUP
Named in honour of a long standing member.
This is usually contested as a Bogey competition.
THE STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
Usually contested as an Individual Medal.
THE M.C.WILDIGG INDIVIDUAL MATCHPLAY SHIELD
Named in honour of a long standing member of the Society.
THE GEOFF LUTNER PAIRS TROPHY
Named in honour of a long standing Society member tragically killed in a road accident.
This competiton allows members to select their playing partner.
THE GEORGE BOOTH MEMORIAL TROPHY
Presented to the Society by the "Dowty Divot Diggers" in memory of a long standing member who sadly passed away in 2001.
This Competition is usually played as a Pairs or Team Format.
THE COMMITTEE CUP
Contested by Committee members only as a reward for the work performed in running the Society.
This Competition is played within another fixture.
THE CROCOMBE TROPHY
This Trophy is now awarded to the player who suffers the biggest normal cut to their handicap ( excludes handicap reviews ) over the season & is designated as the Most Improved Golfer
THE G.P.DENNIS SHIELD
This trophy is now redesignated as "The Birdie Cup " & is awarded to the player scoring the most points in a season based on points scored for Gross Pars, Birdies & Eagles.
